We are  learning about Christmas traditions around the world. Today I learnt that in France children leave their shoes in front of the fire place on Christmas Eve. When they wake up they find that they are full of presents from Farther Christmas or what they call Pere Noel. French tradition say that it is actually the Christ Child who fill the shoes with gifts.

New Zealand Sacred Mountains

I am about to read a story called New Zealand Sacred Mountains  we have to write 3 questions before reading the story mine are I had 4 questions. Then after we did the questions after we read the story find out what I found.

I found out in Maori belief mountains were once gods and warriors and they battled over a girl mountain and they cried and made lake taupo.

STOMP STOMP STOMP…..

“oops oh no why did I do that I could have woken Fluffles up,  she looks so adorable when she's sleeping” He thought to himself.  “WAIT SHE HAS MY PILLOW ARRH” The goblin beast stood as still as a statue thinking about how in the world he's going to get his pillow without interrupting Fluffles cutie rest.

“How in the world am I going to get my favorite fluffy pillow she looks so peaceful but I want my pillow to have my beastly rest” He sat down and waited for awhile but she didn't move a hair.

Then suddenly Fluffles ear moved he jumped up in excitement but she didn't move a whisker anymore apart from her ear kept on moving.   SUDDENLY…...Fluffles then said “leave me alone this is my pillow “ then she was giggling for quite awhile.

After a while of moaning and groaning The goblin beast finally got his pillow because Fluffles finally got up to get a drink so with his long sharp nailed ugly green hands he swooped up and grabbed the pink fluffy pillow and went off for his beastly rest.

Then all Fluffles could hear for the rest of the day was boring loud snoring.The little kitten said “he may be ugly to others but he's not to me”

What Does Success Mean To Me?

We got to learn about success for the past days or so then we talked about what success means to us. Then how we will do the goal or job like for example want to become a YouTuber then we had to do how we fell and how we are going to accomplish it. After that we had to make a google drawing about what success means to you here's mine.

      

Uru Mānuka Logo

For the last term we have been learning about logos
for a competition its what would the logo be for Uru Mānuka. How I did this was on a website called designapp.io its a great logo design site. The reason I choose this colors because were happy most of the time and were some schools so that makes us educational, Also since Mānuka grove the flower I did natural which is green. In my opinion I thought it toke awhile but it was fun also quite hard to think about a design.We also had to make sure it looked good big or small. Here's mine.

Te Manu Tuku Tuku poem

For literacy at our awesome new school. We got to write a poem about how we feel what we hear, see, smell, touch and another I feel. We also had to have alliteration and a simile. My poem has everything.

I feel glad to be one of the first students at the new school.
I hear all my noisy friends chatting like a monkeys pandemonium.
I see all the bright wonderful smiles on everyone's faces.
I smell all the new nice furniture.
I touch the silky, soft, smooth walls.
I feel lucky to be at this wonderful, awesome school.

Today's adventure began off by stopping at Farewell Spit and writing down about what the people did to help the whales on the surface. The second activity didn't work so we had to go start onto the bonus activity for the bonus activity we got to write on the slide if we think fisher men should stop finishing where the dolphins are i said YES they should check out why in my slide. For today's adventure we got to research about some birds from a choice you can found out what birds on slide 2.Second activity we read about possums and gave facts if we should still keep killing possums or not i gave 5 reasons why we should keep killing them.The last activity was to draw a Moa and I decided to draw a Moa foot. Bread Making

WALT - To Write a Recount about making bread with the correct structure and a hook. A few days ago at school nearly all the rooms all got to make and eat some bread for our inquiry which is healthy eating and we also read a book last week about bread making.then we got to do some writhing about bread making.

Fluffy Bread Making.

“GRRR” that's the sound of my angry scary stomach growling while everyone's getting their pieces of bread! Yesterday at school room 6,7 and 8 all got to make and eat some fluffy moist  bread for our inquiry which is healthy eating.We also read a book last week about bread making.

Firstly, we washed our hands to get all the annoying germs off our hands while Mrs Jack and Miss Goslin were getting the ingredients ready. The first ingredient we mixed were the dry things like flour, salt, yeast and sweet sugar then we mixed the liquid things they were water and oil.Then we put the liquids and the drys together in one silver bowl. We mixed the ingredients then, 1 or 2 long minutes passed and we had dough.

Secondly, we kneaded the smooth dough. We pushed and pulled twisted and turned the dough until it was ready to be put into a clean bowl.The reason we knead the dough is because we need to spread the air bubbles.  We put a tea towel over the bowl to let it rise for an hour until it was ready to be shaped into a beautiful shape. We had to put it into a really warm room  we decided room nine because that room had the heaters on for most of the day.

After an hour and a bit we grabbed it then shaped the dough into an oval shape.We put it in the warm oven to bake it was in there for around an hour and a half.Then I said excitedly “yay yummy tasty bread for everyone”. It tasted like what a cloud would taste like if someone ripped a piece off it was so fluffy and light and also really moist.Once I got a piece of bread I said “yummy I want heaps more”

For Digi Awards a group set up a "Make Their Day Shop". I could buy an ice block and instead of paying with money I paid with a kind act to make someones day. I chose read a book to someone to pay for my ice block.

For a few days in reading we got to make a comic strip about one of the stores in our book.We did these because we were learning to summarize that means that you make a short summary about the hole story. We got to color and draw it ourselves.

For the rest of the term we are learning to summarize so we read a book about tongues and taste buds. We got to write down things we remember about the book and key words some sentences the write a summary about what we read.  

Recount Writing 8D

WALT -  We are learning to write a recount using a hook in the Orientation and elaboration of 1 idea.For the week we were doing recount writhing with hooks and good editing.

CONTROLS CLICKING! is the sound of me playing Minecraft. During the holidays I was SOOOO bored I decided to play Minecraft on the Xbox with Logan, he was at his house and I was  at my house.

Logan messaged me on the xbox and said “Do you want to play Minecraft with me?” I said “Ok” he told me he also was playing with Sam and Josiah.But he wanted to play Minecraft. I messaged back and said that would be really fun.

After we were playing for a while he messaged and asked if we could go onto the microphone I said ok but “I'll see if i'm allowed first”. I messaged back and said i'm allowed so we talked about how we're sooo super excited for school because it was the sunday before we went back to school.

We played on heaps of different worlds on Minecraft but then we made a new one and we spawn and we found a mansion it was super big and amazing in the world it was surivival (survival) and every time we went in the mansion the monsters were there and they keepted making us die and we had to keep spawing in. We both had a little feeling that it was hunted (hauted).Around four weeks ago we wouldn't have found that mansion because it was in the latest update. The latest update come out not that long ago and it had heaps of cool amazing bright new blocks and different colored beds and that in mostly every world that's made has a mansion.

I had so much fun in the Holidays playing with Logan and some of my really super fantastic nice friends ,I love the Holidays and school so much they're both really fun but during the Holidays I messed school learning having fun with all my friends and teachers.

Shiny Snow Description

We were writhing down ideas on bits of paper from the pitcher that was on the paper.In our groups we come up with amazing ideas after we finished planning/writhing the ideas down. We got to pick one of the pitchers and describe what we think they were felling,hearing and seeing.

Shiny hot snow desert. Severe weather comes and goes as it pleases. Snow can be very bad.  

Mostly all she could hear was the sound of the wind crying, well it took her hair for a short fly. She could hear the sound of the ice crushing while she took steps with her heavy boots stomping. She likes the sound of Snow crunching also Icy Crystals breaking.

The white clouds and snow. A dessert full of snow, shimmers in the sun like golden sand.She could see in the descent that some of the snow was melting like an ice cream on a hot day.Over the bumpy hills she can see more to walk along.She sees the sun slowly dragging the clouds away.

Windy day she feels like her hat just going to blow off her head while her hair is flying around in her eyes.The shiny sun makes the wind feel a bit warmer.Far from her destiny she feels like she's been walking for five hours but its only mean half an hour.Once she gets home she's going tell everyone about her holiday but she wishes to have someone to come with her on this mysterious long hike holiday next time.

If I went on this hike I think I would b alot more fit. I don't even think I could do a walk that long for even 2 minutes.

Division & Multiplication Strategy

In maths I have been learning new maths strategy.Having and doubling and a little bit more A little bit less. I use these strategy's lots now.

Rotation Symmetry

For the past week we were learning to do rotation symmetry. Rotation Symmetry is were you can turn a shape or something you made and it is the same when you turn it. Arrows are not rotation symmetry.   

Fixed And Growth Mindset

During Power Time we have been learning about Growth Mindset. We watched a short video about Luke Skywaker and Yoda lifting and X-wing cut of the lake. Luke had a Fixed Mindset. A Fixed Mindset is were you say negative Sentences like "i cant do this", "its to hard. Yoda taught him how to have a Growth Mindset. A Growth Mindset is when you are positive. Like Keep going. We talked what we could say to ourselves to change form a Fixed Mindset to a Growth Mindset. Here is my D.L.O

Rainy Day Art

We did these art because we were learning to use crayon and dye to show movement and ripple in a weather fetcher.This was quick and easy.

We did the art because we were learning to use paint for the effect of penguin feathers.This took around 3 days it was challenging but we did it.

Weather and Climate Change

Last week we went to the Antarctic center for Literacy. The next week we had to do a description about one of the three choices they where Antarctic Animals History & Explores and last one was Weather and Climate Change that's my choice it was quite hard because there was lots of reading and videos to read and watch I had to do the description for writing and the weather cycle for reading.

Frosty, snowy, shivery, frozen ,chilly Marshmallow desert. Have you ever wondered if you knew everything about Antarctica? I bet you didn't Because its actually a desert. Antarctica is a continent.   

Your probably wondering why Antarctica is a desert , if you are here's the answer, because it never rains in Antarctica.

How big is Antarctica? It is twice the size of Australia 25% bigger than Europe 14 million km in size is how big it is.   

Antarctica is thick ice like a snow cone, Antarctica is classified as a desert because so little moisture falls from sky. The inner regions of the continent receive an average of 2 inches receive an average of 2 inches (50 millimeters of precipi (50 millimeters) of precipitation primarily in the form of snow each year.

In my opinion its an amazing place but its really cold I would love to go there for a day or two but no longer I think I could not handle any longer.

Reflection 

Never poem

We were learning to do alliterations poem's. We had to brainstorm a letter with a heaps of words that start with the some letter. I choose the letter M and I made a drawing of one of the words that I used in my sentence the drawing was very easy and quick to make.
